My new article has just been published in Diskussion Musikpädagogik’s special issue on @beyonce, a respected journal in music education.
In it, I explore Beyoncé’s voice through an intersectional lens: as sound, as cultural positioning, as language, and as message. The piece asks what her artistry and the ambivalence between empowerment and the affirmation of dominant norms can teach us about power, identity, anti-oppression, and possibilities for music education.
And the timing couldn’t be better: it’s landing right in Beyoncé’s and my birthday week, a double celebration 🙂
