The past few months have been busy, so I haven’t had much time to look back and reflect. One of the special moments was our book @yineyeniyeniden90lar reading with @hepkaner at @die_careteria in Munich.
Our book, published by @ayrintiyayinlari, is an academic work written for the general public. It explores 90s pop culture in Turkey through feminist, queer, and critical perspectives. It consists of four parts: ‘evil’ women, protest songs, image-making, and queer moments. Drawing on thinkers from Butler to Doty, we examined whether the sweet nostalgia of the era is truly sweet.
A huge thank you to @hul_yeah for the incredibly well-prepared questions and to the amazing audience who joined our conversation about pop music, culture, and gender. We even had time to sign some books!
